 Ý ° Þ  whole different level. Bottom line, it was one of the rawest      Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  hip-hop releases of all time. Stripped down beats and bad ass     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  lyrics, a simple formula, and who better to execute it than "the  Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  big bad insane black John McClane"? This, his sophomore effort,   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  was heavily anticipated by underground heads fiending for more    Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  material like they found on his debut "At the Speed of Life,"     Ý ° Þ

 Ý ° Þ  The first song "Intro (The Last Night)" is a perfect example of   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  what this album is all about. The minimalist beat provided by     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  Sir Jinx is provides the ideal atmosphere for Xzibit to drop      Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  rhymes that can't be described as anything other than pure,       Ý ° Þ

 Ý ° Þ  The next track is a Golden State Warriors collabo, "3 Card        Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  Molly"; the group, Xzibit, Ras Kass, and Saafir have styles that  Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  compliment each other perfectly, and everyone drops a gem of a    Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  verse. Ras Kass has the standout performance here, with lines     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  like "If you looking for sympathy, you'd better look between R    Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  and T in the dictionary."                                         Ý ° Þ

 Ý ° Þ  The hit single from this album was "What You See is What You      Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  Get." Despite the fact this song blew up and set the record for   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  consecutive weeks at #1 on Rap City's Countdown, the notoriously  Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  poor promotion team at Loud did not see it fit to give Xzibit     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  another video for this album. Despite all that Xzibit proved in   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  an era of shiny suit rappers and popping Cris in the club you     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  could still have a hit without watering down your material down   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  The majority of the album is comprised of cuts like this:         Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  gritty, hard edged beats with battle crafted lyrics to match.     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  One of the exceptions is "Shroomz," a with a video game sounding  Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  beat, and Xzibit kicking a very well constructed story rap about  Ý ° Þ

 Ý ° Þ  favorite track on the album, as it is probably the most well      Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  rounded song on the album, with an ill beat, and it showcases     Ý ° Þ

 Ý ° Þ  The guest spots on this entire album were well planned and fit    Ý ° Þ

 Ý ° Þ  "Recycled Assassins," and they all kick competent-to-nice         Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  verses. The others were the Golden State Warriors (Saafir and     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  Ras Kass) on the aforementioned "3 Card Molly," and Likwit Crew   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  mainstays Defari on "Handle Your Business," plus King T and Tha   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  (Alkaho)Liks on "Let It Rain." Unlike many albums, none of these  Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  collabos sounded forced or unnatural; they do not hinder the      Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  album's flow or simply exist for the sake of having a big name    Ý ° Þ

 Ý ° Þ  and over tracks produced by Dr. Dre and Battlecat rather than     Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  Sir Jinx and E-Swift. If that's where Xzibit wants to take it, I  Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  can't blame him; Restless was bananas too, just in a different    Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  way. He said himself that he felt he'd earned the right to get    Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  his shine, that he'd proved himself when it came to underground   Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  hip-hop and battle raps. You damn right he did. This album was    Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  bare bone: no watered down cuts, no commercial material, no       Ý ° Þ
 Ý ° Þ  compromise. I only have one thing left to say: If you consider    Ý ° Þ
